MEET THE DIRECTORS
Ryan Reyna,
Director of Bands
Mr. Reyna is currently in his first year as Director of Bands at Richardson North Junior High School. Prior to his appointment at Richardson North, he served as Assistant Director of Bands at Richardson High School for eight years. While at RHS, his ensembles have earned superior ratings at the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation and Director’s Choice Festival. In his first year of teaching, Mr. Reyna was nominated as top-ten finalist for the RISD’s 2017 Red Apple First Year Teacher Award, being the only representative from RHS.
Mr. Reyna earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Southern Methodist University in 2016. While at SMU, he studied euphonium under Matt Good, performed with the Meadows Wind Ensemble, and was a member of the SMU Mustang Band. Mr. Reyna performed with the Mustang Band in Honolulu, New Orleans, New York, and many more cities in the US. His senior year, Mr. Reyna served as the Drum Major of the Mustang Band. In 2015, he toured the country with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps as a member of the hornline. He then toured as a staff member during the 2016 season.
Originally from San Antonio, Mr. Reyna is excited to call Richardson ISD his home. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Texas Music Adjudicators Association.
Cody Morrow,
Assistant Director
Mr. Morrow is entering his second year with the North Viking Band as assistant band director. Prior to his appointment at Richardson North, he was the director of bands at Herman Furlough Jr. Middle School (2020-2023) in Terrell, TX. From 2016-2020, Mr. Morrow was the assistant band director at Ocean Springs Middle School in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Mr. Morrow attended the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education. While at Southern Miss, Mr. Morrow studied trumpet with Dr. Jason Bergman, and performed with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Symphony Orchestra, as well as various jazz ensembles.
Mr. Morrow has been happily married to his wife, Kristina Morrow since 2020. They have recently welcomed their first child, Samuel, into the world. In his spare time, Mr. Morrow enjoys reading, hiking, and hanging out with his cat, Flitwick.
Mr. Morrow is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Mississippi Bandmasters Association.
